This session fulfills the KY State Board of Podiatry requirement 4)(a) Beginning on July 1, 2012, and annually thereafter, each podiatrist licensed by the board shall complete at least one and one-half (1.5) hours of continuing education related to the use of the Kentucky All- Schedule Prescription Electronic Reporting System (KASPER), pain management, or addiction disorders.

“DVT: Little Things Matter”

Objectives

  • Review of the importance of following up on diagnostic test reports and reports
  • Identify patient risk factors for the development of DVT/PE
  • Describe the necessity for pre-operative medical clearance, having up to date lab work, and post-operative management of anticoagulation therapy

SPEAKER BIOS

Jill Lee, RPh, is an Investigator/ Pharmacist Consultant for the Drug Enforcement and Professional Practices Branch of the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. She works in the offices of KASPER (Kentucky All Schedule Prescription Electronic Reporting) which is operated by the Office of Inspector General. In this position, she is responsible for conducting investigations relating to potential forgeries, doctor shoppers and inappropriate prescribing by providers. Mrs. Lee graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and has 20 years of experience as a retail pharmacist. Mrs. Lee is a member of the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators, Kentucky Pharmacist Association and Kentucky Narcotic’s Officers’ Association.

 

Dr. Roya Mirmiran graduated from California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1998 and completed a three-year surgical residency in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is board certified in Foot and Reconstructive Rearfoot & Ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Mirmiran is a Fellow of American College of Foot and Ankle surgeons and an active member of American Podiatric Medical Association. She served on the Board of Directors for New Mexico Podiatric Medical Association from 2001-2009 and ABFAS Board of Directors from 2013-2016. Dr. Mirmiran was a member of Field Advisory Committee for Veterans Affairs National office of Podiatry. Dr. Mirmiran has been a volunteer member on several committees with ACFAS, ABFAS, CPME, and NBPME. She is a member of Claims Committee with PICA and currently practices in Sacramento, CA.
